OnePlus Unveils New 100W Compact SuperVOOC GaN Charger
OnePlus has some wonderful news for you. It has unveiled a fresh 100W charger making use of GaN technology, reducing the volume drastically versus the older 100W SuperVOOC adapter. The small monster now comes with an interesting magnetic charging cable.
Introducing the OnePlus 100W Compact SuperVOOC GaN Charger
This new charger, which is now for sale in China, has been designed for portability. OnePlus describes the shape as that of a square bottle with a rounded cap – clean and tidy. The most impressive part: It is approximately one-third the size of the previous OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Power Adapter, weighing only about 87 grams with dimensions of 56 x 33.5 x 33.5 millimeters. Besides, the plug can be folded down, thereby facilitating easy storage while traveling.
Not Just for OnePlus: Universal Charging Power
Don't think this charger is just for OnePlus. It is designed to be a versatile companion for all charging protocols. Among them:
- Oppo's SuperVOOC
- Power Delivery 3.0
- PPS (Programmable Power Supply)
- UFCS (Universal Fast Charging Specification)
- Quick Charge 3.0
This helps it fast charge a wide array of devices, including some power-hungry laptops. OnePlus has also provided specs about its power density of approximately 1.6W per cubic meter and its conversion efficiency of around 93.2%, demonstrating excellent performance.
Its Familiar Face
Interestingly, there is a reason why this charger looks similar: it appears to be a rebadged version of the Oppo 100W Compact SuperVOOC GaN Charger, which launched along with the Find X8 series. The main visual difference seems to be the color of the bottom – yellow for Oppo, gray for OnePlus.
Smart Cable Included
Like its Oppo counterpart, the OnePlus charger includes a 10A braided magnetic cable in the box. Not just with a name, this cable's magnetic design keeps it from becoming one annoying tangle of wires, thus providing good storage space. A small consideration, but still nice.
Price Tag and Where to Get It
In China, the OnePlus 100W Compact SuperVOOC GaN Charger (with the cable) is priced at CNY 199, or about $28 or €24. As for a wider release, there is so far no official word. But it won't be a surprise if you hunt for one from third-party sellers that import from China.
