Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is Set for Making
At the Anime Expo in Los Angeles, CD PROJEKT RED and studio TRIGGER have said that a new run of the well-liked anime, named Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, is now being made. This news is a big shift from a past talk in October 2022 that had played down the thought of more to come.
A Fresh, Own Tale in Night City
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be its own anime show with 10 parts set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. It won't keep up the tale of the first show's main person.
Bartosz Sztybor, the boss, writer, and maker for the new show, shared plans for the show:
David’s tale is done, but there’s much left to see in Night City. Getting the known TRIGGER studio to join us again makes us at CD PROJEKT RED very happy to show a new, true story of righting wrongs and payback, not like what we’ve done before.
— Bartosz Sztybor, Showrunner
With Sztybor are head character maker Kanno Ichigo (Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann), who is doing the script work. The show will be on Netflix, but when it comes out is not yet set.
The Big Hit of the First Show
The first run of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners started in September 2022 to great praise, getting a 100% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its hit helped bring back high interest in the Cyberpunk 2077 game. CD PROJEKT RED put out Patch 1.6 with the anime, adding new stuff and fixes. This led to a big jump in who plays the game and a better view from the public.
Less Likely to Have Game Content With It
It is not sure if the new anime show will come with new stuff in the Cyberpunk 2077 game. This seems not likely, as CD PROJEKT RED's work has moved more to making the next game in The Witcher 4.
