Paradox Changes Paid Clan Strategy for Bloodlines 2 After Controversy
Paradox Interactive changed its budget for profit from the sales of two vampire clans in Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 after the strategy received heavy negative reception from the player community.
Paid Clans Controversy
Trouble began when Paradox announced that the Lasombra and Toreador clans would be available as extra-purchase content instead of being included in the base game. This news met with swift and fierce objections, many felt that some core gameplay experiences were being locked away behind a paywall.
This opinion was shared by, among others, the press. A writer for PC Gamer, who had hands-on experience with the clans, called them "full classes," essentially echoing the community's statements regarding their claims to not be sold as additional content.
Paradox's Reaction upon the Community Reaction
Somewhat responding to the community at the time, a Paradox community manager on Discord accepted that the developers witnessed a wave of hate from players; however, a question of interest arose What does that mean for the fate of the given two clans. This messenger reply was subsequently posted on the publisher's official channels, confirming that a change was in order before the game's release.
What Next for the Players
It is unclear what resolution will be undertaken by Paradox with now-outdated matters. The most hopeful fans expect that Lasombra and Toreador clans will go to the game's standard version. To do so, Paradox may have to look into the contents of the premium editions.
The release of Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set for October 21.
