Aoostar Preparing Global Launch for Maco Compact Desktop PC

The company is going to release Maco, its mini-PC, into the global arena following its launch in China last month. The mini-PC packs a portable silver aluminum house similar to that of an Apple Mac mini that comes with modern connections including USB4 and an OCuLink port.

Hardware and Performance

Though Chinese customers will find a version with a Ryzen 7 H 255 processor, Aoostar's worldwide site claims that the international version would only be sold with the AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 8845HS. This APU includes 8 Zen 4 CPU cores and an integrated Radeon 780M iGPU, the latter of which has already been used in the company's GEM12+ mini-PC.

Design and Connectivity

The Maco is entirely different from the other Aoostar models in design and features. Some of its major highlights include:

  • Inspiration from Mac Mini: The aluminum chassis in silver color strongly resembles Apple's compact desktop.
  • High-Speed Ports: Both USB4 and OCuLink would be present to allow high-speed peripherals and external GPU enclosures.
  • Built-in Fingerprint Scanner: There is a built-in fingerprint scanner on the power switch for easy securing.
  • Comparison with GEM12+: The Maco is the same with GEM12+ in that it shares the same APU and core I/O but differs in design, the position of the OCuLink port, and also has the fingerprint scanner.

Availability of Pricing and Global Launch

The Aoostar Maco has been available in the home market since last month, with an introductory price of CNY 1,999 (approximately $299). However, details of worldwide launch dates and prices have not yet been unveiled.
