Official Honor Magic 8 Pro Design Reveal and Features
Honor has revealed its flagship smartphone, the Magic 8 Pro. The announcement now announces the imminent launch of this highly anticipated mobile device, which will also be among the first to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and feature a dedicated button for hardware AI functions.
New Design Philosophy and AI Button
The Magic 8 Pro now has a totally flat rear panel and has moved away from curved edges. In fact, Honor unveiled this new device in a color called "Celestial Glaze", inspired by Chinese ceramics, and it features a pattern that can only be seen with light.
One major differentiator is that it houses another button on the side of the cellphone. Honor has confirmed that it isn't a camera shutter but a dedicated AI button. For one of its first functionality, this button will activate the "Magic Color" service, allowing color palette transfers between photographs and videos.
Camera Formats and Performance
The back of the unit holds a large circular camera with three lenses along with a ToF sensor. The specifications of the telephoto camera have been confirmed by Honor:
- 200 MP sensor,
- an equivalent 85 mm,
- f/2.6 aperture.
Under the hood, the device will incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, putting the Magic 8 Pro in the high-end flagship segment.
Date of Announcement and the Companion Device
The Honor Magic 8 Pro is set for an announcement in China on October 15th. The device will be launched along with the MagicPad 3 Pro, which is also powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
