Dynabook Launches XD5 Notebook with Snapdragon X Plus
Japan's Dynabook has come with an announcement of the XD5, its first laptop built on Qualcomm's ARM platform. It's a pretty light 14-inch notebook weighing less than one kilogram and is intended for portability and longer hours of use away from the connected power supply.
Core Specifications
The Dynabook XD5 is built around the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an 8-core design that can run at speeds of up to 3.4 GHz. In addition, it has a built-in neural processing unit (NPU) with local AI task handling capabilities rated at 45 TOPS.

Key Features Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life, of course, is the main feature of the XD5. The company claims that it is capable of lasting for 28 hours on idle conditions, or about 16 hours using continuous video playback. It is an unusual feature for an ultrabook that the user can replace the battery by just removing the back cover.
The device sports what is nearly a complete set of ports and modern wireless standards:
- Ports: USB4 Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI, Ethernet, microSD slot, audio jack.
- Wireless: Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Pricing and Availability
Currently, the model in question is made available for buy in Japan and comes with only one specification. The price is 219,780 yen, or about $1,400 USD. No information about global availability of the product has yet been known.
