Intel's Market Share Hits 1% in the Discrete Graphics Cards
Those are landmark achievements in the arena of PC hardware competition. According to the most recent report from Jon Peddie Research (JPR) for the third quarter of 2025, Intel has had its very first footfall in the market for standalone graphics cards with a market share of a sour 1%. Compared to other giants in the market, this enrollment count may be termed trifling. Yet it marks Intel's important first moves for its graphics division.
Q3 2025 GPU Market Overview
The full discrete GPU market seems to be in pretty good shape. Total video card sales generated $8.8 billion for the quarter, with 12.02 million units shipped; both numbers are above those of the previous quarter by 2.8%. Distribution in the market is as follows
- NVIDIA Still the clear winner, with 92% market share, but slipped marginally by 1.2 percentage points.
- AMD In a far second place, registers with 7%, and has increased by 0.8% from last quarter.
- Intel Registered at 1%, marking an increase of 0.4%.
Desktop CPU Market Trends
The JPR report also documents the trends in the desktop processor industry. Global shipment of CPUs reached about 19.2 million with a year-on-year decline of 7.6%, but a sequential recovery of 3.9%, which signifies the case that the demand is starting to make a gradual recovery from its volatile opening pattern of 2025.
Some of this action is attributed to "panic buying" as consumers tried to ready themselves for bill increases coming. Aside from these volatile changes, trends in the hardware industry-prospects remain in the positive general direction.
