First-of-its-kind 4K 240Hz OLED Panel with RGB Stripe for CES 2026 Prepared by LG Display
According to the announcement by LG Display, this panel will feature the 27-inch OLED monitor, which comes with a 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate, both of which are classic elements of the traditional RGB stripe pixel structure. By this development, it is now possible to counter one of the primary issues with OLED monitors: poor clarity in textual content.
Solutions to the text clarity Problem
Current OLED monitor panels use pixel arrangements like RGWB (which includes a white subpixel) or triangular RGB. The combination of these particular arrangements tends to cause color fringing and text blurriness, especially within the Windows operating system. The red, green, and blue subpixels of LG Display's new panel are arranged in line together, which is called RGB stripe, thereby drastically reducing halos as well as font bleeding. Furthermore, the high pixel density (160 ppi) is also capable of delivering additional details and comfort of viewing even at very close distances.
High Performance and Flexibility
Until now, OLED panels using the RGB stripe configuration could only achieve a refresh rate of 60 Hz, but LG Display's ingenuity leads the industry forward with 240 Hz at full-resolution 4K read-out with this new pixel configuration. It is also designed with a proprietary technology: DFR (Dynamic Frequency and Resolution). This new feature allows switching between two different modes:
- UHD (4K) at 240Hz: Meant for faithful gaming and serious graphics work.
- FHD (1080p) at 480Hz: Designed for combat e-sports titles where every frame rate is vital.
So, really, the panel can suit various applications ranging from everyday text work to high-class gaming.
Market Strategy
The new panel technology will be introduced into the high-end gaming and professional-grade monitors of LG Display. It is hoped that this innovation will bolster LG Display's chances of solidifying its foothold in the high-end section of the OLED panel market, where durability in comfort for the user has become as important as objective performance attributes such as contrast and response time.
