Forza Horizon 6 Takes Players to Japan in May 2026

The game Forza Horizon 6 will be released in Japan on May 19, 2026. Playground Games revealed Forza Horizon 6 during the Xbox Developer Direct event announcement. The upcoming open-world racing game will take players to Japan when it launches in May 2026.

Release Date and Platforms

The game Forza Horizon 6 will be released on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. PlayStation 5 users will get access to the game later in 2026. The release confirmation comes from information that surfaced through an in-game message in Forza Horizon 5.

A New Open World in Japan

The game will take players to an expansive open world that displays both the Japanese countryside and Tokyo's urban landscape. The developers have created a Tokyo model which exceeds their previous urban areas by five times its size.

Gameplay and New Features

The core gameplay will again center around the Horizon festival, with players competing in various events to progress. The series introduces new elements which include:

  • More cars available at launch than any previous game in the series.
  • The introduction of a new vehicle classification called "R-class" which includes the most advanced vehicles.
  • A cinematic teaser that featured a giant robot.

The studio chose Japan as the game setting because Playground Games wanted to wait until they could properly represent the country according to their standards.
