CD Projekt Red Reports Massive 2025 Financial Gains and High Sales for Witcher and Cyberpunk while Majority of Staff Focus on Witcher 4 Development and a Mysterious Unannounced Launch

I was looking over the latest numbers from CD Projekt Red and it appears the studio had a very successful 2025. They just released their annual report and the figures are actually the second best the company has ever seen. It feels like the Polish developer is finally back on solid ground after a few rocky years. They brought in 233 million dollars in revenue with a profit of around 140 million. That is a massive win by any standard.

The older games are still pulling a lot of weight. As of last year, the Witcher trilogy reached 85 million copies sold. It is incredible that Witcher 3 alone accounts for 60 million of those. People just keep buying it. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 has hit 35 million sales. The expansion, Phantom Liberty, also did well with 10 million copies out in the wild. I think these numbers explain why the studio has so much cash to spend on new things right now.

CD Projekt Red 2025 Annual Report Witcher 4 Development Cyberpunk Sales and Unannounced Project Launch

The most interesting part of the report mentions a game we do not know about yet. The studio plans to release one unannounced project quite soon. Many of us suspect this might be a fresh expansion or a story driven bridge for Witcher 3. There have been whispers from insiders about a DLC that connects the third game to the upcoming Witcher 4. It would certainly make sense if they want to keep the fans busy while they wait for the next big saga. Anyway, we should find out what it is in the next few months.

Staff Allocation and Project Focus

  • Witcher 4 Team 499 people currently working on the project
  • Cyberpunk Sequel 149 staff members assigned to the next game
  • Project Hadar A brand new IP with 26 people starting active work
  • Project Sirius 71 people focused on the Witcher multiplayer spin off

Right now, nearly five hundred people are focused on the next Witcher game. That is a huge portion of the company. It seems likely that this is their primary focus for the foreseeable future. The rest of the teams are spread across the Cyberpunk sequel and a few new ideas. Project Hadar is particularly interesting because it is a completely original world. It is not related to any of their existing work. It is still in the early stages with only 26 people on it but it is something to watch.

At the end of the day, CD Projekt Red is in a very strong position. They have the money and the people to take some big risks. If that unannounced game actually comes out this spring, we might be returning to the world of Geralt sooner than anyone thought. I will be keeping an eye on their next moves.
