MediaTek Developing Dimensity 9600 with Complete Redesign Using TSMC 2nm N2P Process Technology and Advanced Dual Prime Core CPU Architecture for Improved Artificial Intelligence and Graphics Efficiency
The mobile sector has entered the second half of its 2026 hardware cycle bringing new information about upcoming flagship processor chips for upcoming devices. An industry insider who operates under the name Digital Chat Station revealed that MediaTek is currently developing a complete redesign of its upcoming Dimensity 9600 processor. The report shows that MediaTek and Qualcomm are developing mobile processors through their new ultra efficient manufacturing methods and advanced core distribution systems.
The Dimensity 9600 showcases its most important improvement through the modification of its CPU structure. MediaTek has implemented its first 2+3+3 cluster design with the Dimensity 9000 series. The configuration combines two ultra large prime cores with six performance cores that operate exclusively at their full capacity. The chip uses this all large core configuration to operate better under heavy processing pressure by removing small efficiency cores. This transition operates to fulfill the existing demands which local artificial intelligence algorithms and complex multitasking scenarios of current flagship smartphones require.
The TSMC N2P process technology serves as the base on which this new architectural system gets built. The industry reaches a crucial crossroads because 2nm manufacturing technology enables companies to produce more compact transistor designs while achieving superior thermal management capabilities than earlier manufacturing processes. The Dimensity 9600 uses this advanced technology to achieve greater processing capabilities while decreasing power consumption during high demand operations. The upcoming year will see this manufacturing development become the main factor which distinguishes high performance mobile devices from each other according to market analysis.
The new platform delivers dual functions which it uses to improve visual performance while reducing energy consumption. The Dimensity 9600 iGPU will include neural shader technology according to its internal architectural design. The iGPU uses this new function to establish better communication with the NPU module which results in improved visual data processing capabilities. The system uses neural processing unit technology to handle certain graphical functions which enables it to maintain battery efficiency while delivering high performance in gaming and AI photography.
MediaTek has not revealed an official launch date for the Dimensity 9600 processor yet the current schedule predicts that devices with this silicon will begin to reach stores in September. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform will release its main competitors at this time. The late 2026 flagship market will focus on efficient AI performance and advanced power management systems because of 2nm technology and more aggressive CPU layouts.
