The Huawei Pura X Max occupies a larger footprint in terms of total width. The Huawei device reaches its maximum width when fully opened at 166.5 millimeters. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide has a narrower measurement of 161.4 millimeters than the Huawei device. Samsung chose to create a taller design which stands at 123.9 millimeters while Huawei s flagship device reaches a height of 120.0 millimeters.
The different design principles display their impact during the device s folded position. Users who prefer a narrower grip will find the Samsung device more approachable at 82.2 millimeters wide. The Huawei alternative remains significantly wider even when closed, measuring 85 millimeters across.
Samsung appears to have won the engineering war regarding internal volume. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide achieves a remarkable unfolded thickness of only 4.3 millimeters. The device maintains its pocket friendly profile at 9.8 millimeters when closed. The Pura X Max from Huawei has not yet achieved this level of size reduction because it measures 5.2 millimeters in its open state and 11.2 millimeters in its closed state.
The two devices show their most significant differences between their screen display areas. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide features an outer display aspect ratio of 4.7 3, paired with a perfectly square 4 3 ratio for the expansive internal panel. This design supports traditional media viewing and allows users to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Huawei has selected slightly different geometry for the Pura X Max. The outer display uses a 4.4:3 aspect ratio while the main internal display has a 4.24 3 ratio. The dimensions show that Huawei wants users to experience the external screen through one handed use while they enjoy the internal tablet experience. The market acceptance of official specifications will determine which two companies users prefer based on their preference for Samsung s slim design or Huawei s wider display space.
