MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Leak Details Shift to 2nm Process and All Big Core Architecture for Next Generation High End Gaming Smartphones
A recent leak from insider Digital Chat Station provides details on the next flagship chipset from MediaTek. The anticipated Dimensity 9600 or an anticipated Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset are said to boast unprecedented processing speeds as a result of a rumored switch to a 2nm manufacturing process.
In a surprising departure from its previous models, it is speculated that MediaTek will ditch low power efficiency cores and adopt an 2+3+3 design. This particular combination of cores means that all eight of the processor's cores, without exception, are large cores. MediaTek appears to be chasing extremely strong single threaded power as they attempt to cram a nearly perfect single threaded design into their latest flagship, likely pushing mobile processors far beyond what is currently possible.
In addition to improved processing capabilities, the leak emphasizes a significant upgrade in terms of graphics. Native support for both frame generation and upscaling hardware is expected from the Dimensity 9600 chip. Optimized ray tracing will be integrated into the chip as well to try and elevate the mobile gaming experience. All of these indicate that the new MediaTek chipset will be the centerpiece of next generation high end gaming smartphones due to launch in the later part of the year.
First phones to feature this brand new 2nm flagship silicon will likely arrive in September 2026 and if the leaked design proves true, it should have very strong competition and could disrupt the performance hierarchy of current flagship Android devices.
