Bungie Debuts Final Destiny 2 Trailer Ahead of Monument of Triumph Launch

Bungie Releases Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph Launch Trailer to Mark the End of Live Service Development as Maintenance Mode Begins for the Popular Shooter

Bungie has released the official launch trailer for Monument of Triumph, the last main content addition to the massively multiplayer shooter Destiny 2. With this content patch next week, development will come to a definitive close for the live service game. After the expansion drops next week the studio will put the game into pure maintenance, the only aspects they will care about are tweaking performance, fixing any absolutely game breaking issues if they arise, and very minor improvements if needed.

The cinematic launch trailer shows a handful of key features added in to commemorate the long life of the game. This includes the ability to challenge friends to a drastically reworked Pantheon mode where players must defeat a number of iconic raid bosses on ever increasing difficulty settings. The game will also bring back its well loved Sparrow Racing League including one completely new course made exclusively for this final update. The goal of these changes is to give its current population an end game experience with substantial replayability now that the studio's production schedule is finished.

While the patch notes detailing the system changes and balancing passes go into great detail and stretch over 17,000 words according to the patch previews shared by the developer, there are a few of particular note in relation to this update. To end development for the live service game at such a prominent point has caused a bit of discussion in the gaming world. Just this past week, the creative director of competitor Warframe publicly stated that he considered bungies choice to cease production on new content to be a "huge mistake" for the studio, considering the large active population of Destiny 2.
