Bungie Releases Final Cinematic Farewell to Destiny 2 Community

Bungie releases Destiny 2 tribute video and Monument of Triumph update to close Vanguard story while moving to Marathon

Bungie have also released one last tribute video to mark the end of the actively lived content cycle of Destiny 2. As cited through official Bungie broadcast channels the tribute trailer aims to commemorate the story of the multi player shooter so that the series doesn't end without a formal goodbye, and has ignited much nostalic feeling amongst players across the world, as the developer focuses on the next development cycle.

The tribute video brings together all of the pivotal narrative cinematics that have told the story of The Vanguard throughout the lifetime of the multi player shooter. The video celebrates the arrival of the traveler in the beginning of the story, and focuses much on the prominent characters involved in the tale. With clips of Ikora Rey, Cayde 6 and commander Zavala, voiced originally by the late lance Reddick, players get a final send off to the creative minds who shaped the game's fictional lore.

This send off has also coincided with the launch of the Monument of Triumph update which is The Vanguard's final DLC add on for the game. The arrival of the new addition caused a massive player surge, temporarily crashing the server infrastructure as the servers were overwhelmed.

While many players are requesting for Bungie to announce Destiny 3, following the recent player resurgence that saw the game crash servers and experience downtime due to heavy usage, it seems as though Bungie will not be moving forward with a sequel at this point, as leadership has stated that they are now focusing their resources on production of their new space opera extraction shooter, Marathon. The farewell marks the definitive closure and transition that Bungie has undergone from its ten year story to new intellectual property, under Sony.
