Nvidia and SK Group Leaders to Announce Artificial Intelligence Partnership

NVIDIA and SK Group Executive Leadership Plan Significant Announcement on Procurement and Supply of High Performance Memory for Artificial Intelligence

Tomorrow morning the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, and the chairman of SK Group, Chey Tae Won, will jointly make a significant announcement. According to the Newsis News, a South Korean news source, the partnership will revolve around the procurement and supply of high performance memory for use in artificial intelligence applications. The forthcoming press briefing will reveal the plans of the two companies in regard to coordinating their design and manufacturing capabilities.

In an email statement, a representative for SK Hynix, the memory producing branch of SK Group, verified that the meeting has been planned and that both parties would be available to the press. Jensen Huang also corroborated the pending announcement during an interview with a group of journalists. According to Huang, Nvidia will reveal an announcement concerning their partnership with the South Korean conglomerate tomorrow. The announcement comes amidst a growing global demand for silicon specifically designed for use in the artificial intelligence industry.

This arrangement will likely deal in large part with the acquisition of high bandwidth memory; which is a necessary feature of all high performance computing silicon used in the field of artificial intelligence. SK Hynix currently supplies a number of Nvidia graphics processors with the chips necessary to achieve high bandwidth memory. By signing this agreement at the executive level, the two companies hope to ensure a consistent supply of this specialized silicon and the future growth of computing platforms.
