Pokemon Champions Mobile Release Date Confirmed for iOS and Android Featuring Cross Play Save Support and Exclusive Raichu Promotion
Nintendo has confirmed a launch date for mobile device releases of their once exclusive console title; Pokemon Champions. The title will arrive on iOS and Android two weeks from now according to the official product release. The game intends to widen its appeal by allowing players to seamlessly carry their saved data over from their Nintendo Switch copies to mobile devices through cross play.
To commemorate the expansion to new systems, a limited time promotional gift will be sent out to players of all versions of the game. When signing in and checking their virtual mailboxes players will be rewarded with a free Raichu. The promotion includes 2 additional gifts, the new Raichunite X and Raichunite Y items used as mega stones in battle with Raichu.
This giveaway is intended to appeal to both veteran console players and the new mobile audience by giving them their free prize before the end of the campaign. The items will expire from the in game mailboxes shortly before autumn.
Nintendo's decision to make Pokemon Champions available to the mobile market is representative of a developing industry wide approach to moving beyond single platform exclusive games. Pokemon Champions was originally released as a digital download for the Nintendo Switch console earlier this year, and by taking advantage of the large market of mobile phone users the company is hoping to capitalize on their work using both new mobile player progress and their existing player data from the Switch.
