According to the official AMD corporate roadmap presentation, the company has revealed an ambitious infrastructure roadmap stretching out to 2030. The updated plans highlight upcoming generations of EPYC server processors, Instinct accelerators, and massive Helios rackscale configurations designed to secure the company’s position in the enterprise market. However, customers will have to wait until at least 2027 before the first of these new hardware families begins shipping.
The server processor roadmap is anchored by the transition to the Zen 7 architecture. Scheduled for 2028, these EPYC processors carry the codenames Florence, Ferrara, and Fidenza. AMD expects these chips to push the boundaries of density, efficiency, and overall performance per system dollar. Looking even further ahead, the company slated its Zen 8 server lineup, codenamed Ravenna, for a 2030 release to maintain its position in the data center market.
Enterprise artificial intelligence acceleration will get a major boost through updated graphics processing silicon. The AMD Instinct MI500 series is scheduled to debut in 2027, bringing improvements to memory, compute capability, and interconnect technologies. This will be followed closely in 2028 by the Instinct MI600 series, which aims to provide top tier processing speeds for massive database workloads.
For massive data centers, the company is packaging these components into unified rackscale solutions. The upcoming Helios 500 platform will combine MI500 graphics processors with EPYC Verano processors, using Pensando Como and Monza networking hardware. Shortly after, the Helios 600 configuration will succeed it, grouping MI600 accelerators with EPYC Ferrara processors and Pensando Palma and Levanzo networking components to deliver a fully integrated enterprise package.
