POCO has revealed key details for its upcoming F9 Ultra and F9 Pro flagships ahead of their official debut. Both devices focus on raw gaming power with 185 Hz screens, massive silicon carbon batteries, and 200 MP main cameras. Full pricing and regional availability will be confirmed during the official presentation on 1 september.
Mobile gaming performance is a huge priority for both phones. They run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, though the F9 Pro uses a V Series variation of the chip. A secondary VisionBoost D8 graphics chip works alongside the main processor, while the proprietary WildBoost Engine manages high frame rates up to 185 fps in supported titles. To handle heat during long gaming sessions, the larger F9 Ultra packs a vapor chamber measuring 6300 square millimeters alongside a graphite cooling sheet measuring 17820 square millimeters. POCO claims a 3D structure positioned right over the chipset drops internal temperatures by an extra 3 degrees.
The screen sizes and battery capacities show the biggest differences between the two models. The flagship F9 Ultra gets a huge 6.9 inch M11 AMOLED panel that reaches a peak brightness of 10000 nits. Touch response is exceptionally fast, with a 480 Hz standard touch sampling rate and a 4800 Hz instant response rate. Inside, it houses an 8050 mAh silicon carbon battery with 16% silicon content and an energy density of 809 Wh per liter. In comparison, the smaller F9 Pro carries a 6.59 inch 185 Hz AMOLED display and a 6330 mAh battery cell. Both devices support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, alongside reverse charging speeds of 27W wired and 22.5W wireless.
Camera hardware gets a major upgrade across the board. The F9 Ultra serves as the first smartphone from the brand to feature a 200 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization. It also packs a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom and 10x lossless zoom, with support for macro shots and 4K video capture at 60 fps. The F9 Pro keeps the 200 MP main camera with optical stabilization, but swaps in a standard 50 MP telephoto lens with 2.5x zoom. For sound, both handsets carry audio tuned by Bose. The F9 Ultra takes things a step further with a 2.1 audio layout made of dual 1115D stereo speakers and a dedicated 1620 subwoofer.
