Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Schematics Reveal Two Sizes and Three Rear Cameras

Samsung may be preparing a massive hardware shakeup for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Leaked engineering schematics reveal that the flagship could launch in 2 display sizes with a reduced 3 camera rear layout. If confirmed, this marks the first time Samsung has split its Ultra model into multiple physical dimensions.

The early schematics surfaced on Weibo through industry leaker Ice Universe, showing 2 distinct back cover designs currently under testing. One version aligns the back glass flush with the camera island, while the second version drops the placement lower on the body. Tech leaker Sonny Dickson stated on X that these structural differences exist because Samsung plans to release the Galaxy S27 Ultra in 2 separate physical sizes. This approach would allow buyers to choose a more compact build without giving up top tier flagship hardware.

The leaked diagrams also reveal a major reorganization of the rear optics. The primary lens and ultrawide sensor are stacked vertically, while a 5x periscope telephoto camera sits inside a capsule shaped island next to the LED flash. Noticeably missing from the schematics is the secondary telephoto lens that has defined the Ultra lineup for generations.

This layout matches earlier supply chain reporting from Korean media indicating that the entire Galaxy S27 series will move to 3 rear cameras. Samsung is eliminating the old 10MP 3x optical telephoto lens and keeping only the 50MP 5x periscope unit. By cutting the camera count from 4 down to 3, Samsung appears ready to rely on high resolution sensor cropping to handle intermediate zoom levels between 1x and 5x magnification.
