Anbernic has officially revealed the RG DS Plus, a dual screen gaming handheld built specifically for retro emulation. The device features 2 matching 4.3 inch displays capable of running Nintendo DS games at 4x integer scaling alongside a built in capacitive stylus. However, the company has not yet confirmed pricing or full hardware specifications.
The standout feature of this new handheld is the screen configuration. Both the top and bottom panels measure 4.3 inches and output at a resolution of 1024x768. Because this exact pixel grid multiplies the original Nintendo DS resolution by 4, the handheld delivers sharp scaling without stretched or blurred graphics. Holding the 2 screens together is a dual alloy hinge that supports stepless positioning from 15 degrees up to 180 degrees, letting players lock the display angle wherever it feels comfortable.
On the software side, the device runs a customized Linux distribution developed directly by Anbernic. It introduces a dedicated dual screen emulator called NNDDSS with a tailored interface for organizing and launching game files. To preserve the original feel of touch based gameplay, the body of the console houses an integrated capacitive stylus. This design ensures that players can immediately interact with bottom screen mechanics without needing to carry separate accessories.
Anbernic showcased the unit in black, blue, and pink color finishes during an official announcement video published on Bilibili. While the exterior design and software interface are now confirmed, the manufacturer remains quiet on the remaining internal components. Key details regarding the processor model, memory capacity, battery size, and official retail pricing are expected to arrive in upcoming announcements.
