Blackwood Developers Roll Out Day 1 Patch to Fix Combat and Glitches

Blackwood has received its first major game update just 24 hours after launch. The emergency patch introduces requested combat controls like fire mode selection and melee target cycling while fixing dozens of environment glitches. The studio confirmed that a broader overhaul targeting autosaves and movement physics is already in progress.

The developers prioritized player feedback gathered through their official Discord community to adjust basic action mechanics. Players can now toggle between single shot and burst fire by pressing B on keyboards or R1 and RB on controllers. Target switching during hand to hand encounters is mapped to the shoulder swap button. Aiming settings now feature dedicated mouse sensitivity sliders, and players can change character outfits directly from the basement hub.

Melee combat feels much tighter. Lock on tracking is stronger, attack warning prompts appear immediately when enemies swing, and landing a final parry against an enemy on low health triggers an automatic takedown animation. The team also updated the shooting range textures and adjusted the damage range for the boss fight in Mission 4 to create a fairer challenge. Items from the Supporter Edition now unlock in the player inventory immediately when starting a new campaign.

The update eliminates several bizarre bugs that surfaced during the initial launch window. Fire extinguishers can no longer damage players through solid walls, and enemies will not spawn directly on top of you during wave defense sequences. The team corrected a visual glitch where broken sewer walls allowed special effects to render through solid surfaces. Elevator buttons on lower graphical presets now display proper level of detail textures.

Cutscene interactions are also more stable. Weapons will no longer vanish from your hands when grabbing items right before a cutscene triggers. Missing store descriptions for the KS12 were restored, and player set DVD rental prices in the store will no longer reset every day. Stutters linked to outdated pipeline state objects have been addressed across the board.

The studio is already testing the next update to solve deeper gameplay systems. Sleeping will no longer be the only method to save progress, as a complete overhaul of the autosave mechanics is underway. The developers are also refining diving physics, fixing an issue where breakfast meals failed to grant health boosts during missions, and fine tuning enemy accuracy. Controller usability and interface readouts will receive further improvements as the team continues monitoring player bug reports.
