A fresh update for the indie action game Blackwood has rolled out on Steam. The 6th major patch focuses on refining character traversal and combat mobility while rebalancing the in game economy to protect players from unfair game over screens. According to the development team on the official Steam community page, the update also clears out several persistent animation glitches and collision bugs.
Traversing urban obstacles feels noticeably smoother with this release. The developers adjusted the vault jump mechanics so the game automatically prioritizes clearing barriers when there is a steep drop on the other side. Rolling has also been reworked. You no longer have to aim down sights to initiate an evasive roll. Holding the climb button triggers a roll immediately, though the game disables it if you are right in front of an obstacle to prevent clashing inputs. Ground detection and animation transitions during climbing sequences have also received polish to eliminate awkward hitching.
Quality of life tweaks extend directly into daily campaign routines. Anton will now physically walk up to nearby objects when you hit interact, putting an end to the distracting teleport warping seen in previous builds. The financial management side received a welcome safety net as well. When monthly shop bills come due, the game will automatically pull from your stash of dirty cash if your clean reserves fall short. This single change saves players from taking a sudden loss when rent is due. For gamepad users, the controller D Pad now works properly to browse every game menu.
Combat fluidity and companion behaviors saw multiple fixes across the board. Weapon handling feels tighter thanks to adjustments on pistol slide recoil, and aim blending now stays smooth when running with snappy combat movement toggled on. In the shop, Amelie no longer jitters in place or suffers from mismatched eyelid animations when standing at the counter. Even the companion cat has received navigation updates so it avoids walking headfirst into solid walls. Environmental issues like vehicle tires treating smooth parking lot concrete as gravel during the Chase sequence have also been patched out.
