Edifier has launched the M230 II, a vintage styled desktop speaker that upgrades acoustic output to 26 W while packing modern wireless connectivity into an MDF wooden frame. The retro portable unit features Bluetooth 6.0, a larger 5200 mAh battery, and a dedicated silk dome tweeter. It is currently available in China priced at $60.
The visual shell resembles a classic tabletop radio, but the internal hardware delivers modern desktop power. Edifier moved to a 2 way acoustic layout. High frequencies pass through a dedicated 22 mm silk diaphragm tweeter for clear treble. Midrange and low end duties rely on an oval 45x80 mm driver paired with a large 113x49 mm passive radiator to produce deeper bass.
Continuous rated output now reaches 26 W, up from 20 W on the previous model, with peak output hitting 52 W. The frequency response covers 58 Hz to 20 kHz. This broader acoustic range gives vocals and instruments considerably more space to breathe without muddy distortion at high volume.
Connectivity options go well beyond basic phone streaming. The speaker carries Bluetooth 6.0 hardware that supports simultaneous pairing with 2 separate audio sources. You can also link 2 separate M230 II units wirelessly using TWS mode to build a proper stereo setup on your desk.
Wired options are equally versatile. Plugging the speaker into a computer via USB enables an integrated sound card mode for clean desktop audio. For completely phone free playback, users can insert a microSD card directly into the integrated reader to play audio files locally.
Battery life gets a substantial boost from an internal 5200 mAh power cell. Standard wireless playback lasts up to 27 hours at moderate volume levels. Turning on the LoongSound power saver preset in the Edifier Connect companion app stretches that runtime to 30 hours on a single charge.
The cabinet uses an authentic MDF wooden enclosure with a woven fabric front grille. Tactile electroplated keys sit along the lower edge for direct playback and volume adjustments. Edifier offers the speaker in 3 color choices, including brown wood, beige pink, and green.
