FiiO has officially introduced the M25 portable audio player series alongside the FT15 planar magnetic headphones. The new music player features desktop grade amplification power and comes in both delta sigma and R2R resistor ladder configurations. Starting at 7,499 yuan (approx. $1,117 USD) for the player and 2,999 yuan (approx. $447 USD) for the headphones, both releases are aimed directly at high end personal audio enthusiasts.
The M25 series runs on a Qualcomm QCS6490 processor backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. FiiO split the hardware lineup into 2 distinct editions. The M25 VERITA runs an AK4191EQ processor with 2 AK4499EX DAC chips, introducing 4 unique sound profiles tuned specifically for modern music. The M25 R2R takes a different path by incorporating a custom 24 plus 5 bit segmented resistor ladder to provide a warmer acoustic signature.
Both player versions pack serious amplification hardware capable of pushing 1700mW per channel. To maintain signal precision, FiiO built the audio pipeline around an independent XMOS XU316 USB receiver, a high capacity FPGA, and custom femtosecond crystal oscillators. The software system includes a 31 band parametric equalizer with automatic correction features. Physical retail outlets receive stock first, while online orders open in mid to late November.
The companion FT15 open back headphones use an ultra thin 800 nanometer diaphragm coated in proprietary diamond material, extending high frequency response up to 40kHz. This design reduces diaphragm thickness by 86.7% compared to previous generations. The 101mm planar drivers use a uniform magnetic field arrangement and a 28 nanometer electroplated coil to prevent distortion across the entire audio band.
These headphones are easy to drive. With a sensitivity of 95dB and an impedance of 24 ohms, the FT15 works smoothly with portable USB dongles. The physical chassis weighs 425 grams and features a carbon fiber headband paired with solid North American black walnut earcups. FiiO includes a 6N single crystal copper cable treated with liquid nitrogen at 192 degrees below zero Celsius, 2 sets of tuning ear cushions, a 4.4mm balanced cable, and adapters for 6.35mm and XLR 4 connections.
