Honor has unveiled the official pricing for the base Magic 9 several days ahead of its scheduled press event. The upcoming flagship features a dual 200MP camera system, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of onboard storage. Early buyers in China will be able to pick up the device starting at 5999 yuan, or roughly $894.
The standard retail price for the 16GB and 512GB configuration is set at 6499 yuan, which converts to around $968. Honor is offering an immediate discount down to 5999 yuan to mark the 10 year anniversary of the Magic series. Eligible buyers qualifying for regional tech subsidies in China can drop that figure further to 5499 yuan, or about $819. Company representatives have only published numbers for the entry level flagship, keeping costs for higher tier models under wraps for now.
Mobile photography is the core selling point of the new handset. The rear camera housing packs a primary 200MP sensor with a 1/1.4 inch optical format alongside a 50MP ultra wide angle lens. Zoom capabilities come courtesy of a second 200MP periscope sensor measuring 1/1.56 inch, which delivers 3.5x optical zoom. The system also supports an optional 500 millimeter teleconverter attachment to push magnification much further, with early photo samples already circulating online.
The standard Magic 9 will not be arriving alone. Honor is preparing at least 2 companion devices, including a top tier Magic 9 Pro Max focused on premium imaging sensors and a Magic 9 Super Power Edition equipped with a massive 11000 mAh battery. Full details on hardware configurations, global distribution, and secondary models will be revealed during the official launch event next week.
