Laowa has released the TS 24mm F2, a fast wide angle tilt shift lens designed for architectural and interior photography. The manual optic supports 6 camera mounts across both full frame and medium format systems. It is currently on sale in China with a starting price of 7650 yuan.
The lens features a dual axis mechanism that allows photographers to control tilt and shift movements independently or together. On standard full frame cameras, the optic provides 10 degrees of tilt and 12 millimeters of shift in either direction. When mounted on larger medium format bodies like Fujifilm GFX or Hasselblad XCD systems, it maintains that identical 10 degree tilt and full 12 millimeter shift across both axes. This allows photographers to correct converging vertical lines straight in the camera without cropping away resolution in post production editing.
Optical distortion is a common headache for architectural shooters, and Laowa claims this lens practically eliminates the issue at the hardware level. The manufacturer designed the glass to curb barrel and pincushion warping, allowing straight lines to remain straight without software correction profiles. Inside, the optical construction packs 13 glass elements divided into 10 groups. This formula includes 5 low dispersion elements, 2 aspherical lenses, and 4 high refractive index elements to maintain edge sharpness across the frame.
The physical build weighs approximately 860 grams and uses a standard 77 millimeter front filter thread for attaching polarizers or neutral density filters. Buyers can get the lens in Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and L mount for 35mm systems, alongside Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad XCD for medium format users.
