Montage Technology has started mass production of its CK01P client clock driver chip for DDR5 desktop and laptop memory. The new silicon hits data transfer rates up to 9200 MT/s to keep up with memory hungry computing tasks. The rollout directly targets upcoming memory form factors including CUDIMM, CSODIMM, CQDIMM, and CAMM modules.
Memory speeds are climbing fast. To keep signals clean at 9200 MT/s, the CK01P complies with the official JEDEC DDR5CKD01 specification. It features a zero delay clock driver design that includes programmable delay settings for each channel. Engineers can adjust the output properties through control registers, which allows the chip to adapt easily to different memory module layouts.
System designers get 3 operational clock driving setups to pick from, including single phase locked loop, dual phase locked loop, and a bypass mode. Power efficiency was also a major priority during development. The chip automatically shuts down unused clock output lines, cutting down on wasted power inside compact laptops and desktop motherboards.
Stephen Tai, the president of Montage Technology, pointed to rising computing requirements as the main reason for pushing memory speeds higher.
Client platforms demand higher memory bandwidth and energy efficiency as AI adoption accelerates. The CK01P arrives right on time to provide high speed clock stability for next generation DDR5 memory, helping unlock stronger performance for client computing in the AI era.
The move into volume production means memory makers can now begin assembling commercial modules running well beyond early DDR5 transfer speeds.
