Blizzard celebrated the 10th anniversary of Overwatch during the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony by revealing a major wave of upcoming content. The studio unveiled a new vampire inspired support hero named Doctrine alongside complete character reworks for Roadhog and Sombra. Players can test the new character immediately on the show floor or at home through a limited time trial.
Doctrine enters the roster as a life draining healer who releases bat like drones to support allies and harass enemies. The character arrives as part of Season 5, which introduces a fresh competitive battleground called Watchpoint Grimsvotn. This content drop also concludes The Reign of Talon storyline, finishing the first year long narrative arc in the history of the game. Blizzard confirmed that the next dedicated Overwatch Spotlight broadcast will air in early 2027 to detail plans for the remainder of that year.
The developer also revealed major entertainment collaborations planned for the tournament stage. Japanese music duo YOASOBI will perform in the first ever halftime show during the Overwatch World Cup finals. Pop group LE SSERAFIM returns to the Main Stage for the closing performance, supported by a new in game collaboration that is currently active. For tabletop fans, voice actor Matt Mercer joined the Overwatch narrative team to write QuestWatch, a live role playing campaign performed during the convention.
Console players watching from home can unlock instant rewards on Xbox hardware. Completing just 1 match on Xbox during the broadcast window awards a Mythic Voucher that players can redeem for eligible Mythic Hero skins.
