Panasonic has launched the Lets Note SC7, an ultra light business laptop featuring a modular battery and a circular touchpad. Weighing just 919 grams, the machine packs an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 chip inside a military grade magnesium body. The laptop is currently exclusive to Japan with prices starting at $1880.
The front of the device features a 12.4 inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio tailored for document editing and spreadsheets. Under the keyboard sits the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor. Base configurations arrive with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB solid state drive. Buyers can configure the system with up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage if they need extra headroom.
Panasonic kept its classic circular Wheel Pad, which lets you scroll pages by running a finger around the outer edge. Power comes from a 56Wh battery pack secured by 2 simple screws for quick swaps in the field. Panasonic claims the cell delivers up to 23 hours of office work on 1 charge. When power runs low, the bundled 65W adapter pushes the battery to 46% in roughly 30 minutes.
Portability is a major selling point. The magnesium alloy chassis weighs 919 grams yet meets MIL STD 810H durability standards thanks to internal reinforcement ribs. Biometric security is covered by both a fingerprint reader on the power button and facial scanning sensors.
Unlike many modern slim notebooks, this machine does not abandon traditional ports. You get 2 Thunderbolt 4 connections, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, full size HDMI, and a gigabit ethernet jack for wired office networks. Wireless radios include modern Wi Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
