Polestar has revealed the new Polestar 4 SUV, bringing back a traditional rear window to solve the biggest customer criticism of the original coupe. The updated electric crossover delivers extra headroom, expanded cargo capacity, and up to 630 km of range on a single charge. Pricing in Germany starts at €57,900 with customer deliveries arriving in the 4th quarter of the year.
The original version made headlines for ditching rear glass entirely in favor of a roof camera and digital mirror. Drivers complained about visibility. Polestar listened and redesigned the tail. The new SUV profile adds standard rear glass, turning the digital camera mirror into an optional add on. A flatter roofline and vertical tailgate also increase interior room, giving rear passengers 2.5 cm of extra headroom. Cargo space expands to 1680 liters of total volume, with 1665 liters available when folding down the back seats. The standard roof rails support a moving weight of up to 100 kg, and buyers can option an electrochromic panoramic glass roof.
Every variant runs on a 100 kWh battery pack. The single motor rear wheel drive model puts out 200 kW, which translates to 272 hp. It hits 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and covers up to 630 km on the WLTP cycle. Buyers looking for more speed can step up to the dual motor all wheel drive configuration. That setup delivers 400 kW and 686 Nm of torque, good for 544 hp and a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds. Maximum travel range for the dual motor setup drops slightly to 600 km.
German pricing gives a clear picture of the trim breakdown. The base rear wheel drive version starts at €57,900. Moving up to the dual motor all wheel drive model raises the price to €65,900. The top tier Performance Pack configuration pushes the entry point to €76,300. Polestar plans to begin handing keys to the first buyers during the final quarter of the year.
