SanDisk has revealed the E31, a compact solid state drive capable of transfer speeds up to 1000 MB per second. The pocket sized storage device features drop resistance from heights up to 2 meters and connects via a fast USB Type C interface. Retail availability begins later this week with prices starting at $117 for 500GB of storage.
The core appeal of the SanDisk E31 centers on its fast data rates. The drive hits maximum read speeds of 1000 MB per second, making it up to 5 times faster than standard external spinning hard drives. Because solid state memory lacks moving parts, the internal components remain safe during daily transport. SanDisk claims the outer chassis can survive drops from up to 2 meters without data loss.
Compatibility is straightforward thanks to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port. The drive works out of the box with laptops, tablets, and smartphones across different operating systems. This allows users to move large files between mobile devices and personal computers without needing extra adapters or software.
SanDisk is releasing the E31 in 3 different storage sizes to meet varying user needs. The base model offers 500GB for $117. Stepping up to the 1TB capacity costs $175, while the flagship 2TB version is priced at $310. The company plans to open official sales through major electronic retailers and online storefronts very soon.
