Thermal Grizzly has teamed up with Austrian cooling specialist Noctua to release the WireView Pro II Noctua Edition. Designed for high power graphics cards, the diagnostic tool monitors individual power lines to stop melted connector pins while running almost completely silent. The upgraded safety accessory is available immediately for 189.90 dollars.
Melted power cables remain a major fear for PC builders running modern graphics cards that use the 12V 2x6 standard. Most monitoring tools only track total power draw. This device takes a different route by analyzing electrical current across every single conductor individually. Uneven load distribution appears immediately on the built in TFT IPS color screen before dangerous heat buildup can ruin the graphics card. If current spikes past safe limits, an internal buzzer sounds an alarm, and a bundled splitter cable can trigger an emergency system shutdown.
While the original version worked well, many builders disliked the noise from its small cooling fan. Noctua chief executive Roland Mossig explained why the company partnered on a redesign.
The customised heatsink does most of the work passively, so the fan stays switched off in the majority of use cases, and you can barely hear it when it does spin up.
The original hardware relied on a fan spinning up to 5000 rpm, which was easily audible in quiet rooms. Noctua completely overhauled the thermal assembly using a CNC milled aluminum heatsink, an integrated frameless NF A4x10n fan, and a custom fan grill. In extreme tests where case fans were turned off inside a 40 degree chamber, the Noctua Edition kept its fan completely off at power levels up to 300W. By contrast, the standard model started spinning after less than 3 minutes.
When running under heavy 480W loads, the redesigned unit spins at under 2000 rpm. Sound output measures just 21.5 decibels at 10 centimeters, compared to nearly 40 decibels on the original design. That makes the device virtually silent inside a closed PC case. Thermal Grizzly also provides a 2 year coverage policy that protects the graphics card connector against damage while using the monitor. Users can adjust settings through desktop software over a USB C port, though the hardware functions completely plug and play right out of the box.
