HMD Upgrades European Fusion Phone with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2

HMD is readying an upgraded European edition of the modular Fusion smartphone. The revised device replaces the budget processor with a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and bumps the screen refresh rate to 120Hz. Full retail pricing and regional release schedules remain unconfirmed.

HMD swaps the silicon to provide a clear performance jump over the original release. The handset runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 platform paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Up front, the panel keeps the 6.56 inch footprint but steps up to an FHD+ IPS LCD with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. By comparison, the earlier model relied on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip with a lower resolution HD+ panel capped at 90Hz.

The optical hardware retains the setup from the first iteration. A 50 MP sensor sits on the front for selfies and video calls. The back panel features a 108 MP primary camera joined by a secondary 2 MP sensor for basic depth detection. Power comes from a 5000 mAh battery supporting 33W wired charging through the bottom port.

Physical customization remains the central selling point for the hardware. The back shell features a proprietary Smart Pin connector that links to specialized cases and functional attachments. These add on covers provide features like wireless charging, heavy duty drop protection, or ring lights for live streaming. Users can also access an open source development toolkit to design and 3D print their own custom accessories.
