TTArtisan has released the AF 24mm F3.8, an ultra compact full frame pancake lens priced at $99 for international markets. Measuring just 16mm thick and weighing 57g, the wide angle prime targets street and travel photographers who want minimal bulk on full frame camera bodies. The lens is currently available for Sony E mount, with a Nikon Z mount edition scheduled for release later.
The optical formula consists of 6 elements arranged in 6 groups, delivering an 84 degree field of view suited for street scenes, landscapes, and environmental portraits. Autofocus is driven by an STM stepping motor configured for quiet tracking during both still photography and video recording. The minimum focusing distance measures 0.3 meters for close up compositions. A built in sliding lens cap covers the front glass, removing the need for a separate clip on cap.
The lens arrives first for Sony E mount mirrorless cameras, covering the full frame sensor area without electronic cropping. TTArtisan plans to introduce a native Nikon Z mount version in an upcoming release cycle. Electronic contacts on the mount transfer aperture data to the camera and support firmware updates to ensure long term autofocus compatibility.
