ASUS has officially released the ROG XG Station 3 external graphics dock, bringing high speed Thunderbolt 5 connectivity to mobile setups. The release comes 1.5 years after the unit was first revealed to the public. It features support for high power desktop graphics cards alongside a GC HPWR slot for cable free BTF components.
ASUS built the enclosure around an open frame design. It fits graphics cards measuring up to 361 x 139.3 x 93.9 millimeters, accommodating large modern desktop cards. Power duties require an SFX or SFX L power supply rated at 750W or higher with an 80 PLUS Gold efficiency certification or better. Integrated Aura Sync RGB lighting zones provide customizable illumination across the frame.
Connectivity centers on high bandwidth Thunderbolt 5. The primary upstream Thunderbolt 5 port delivers up to 140W of USB PD charging to power the host laptop. The secondary downstream side provides 1 additional Thunderbolt 5 port pushing 36W USB PD charging alongside 2 USB C 10Gbps ports for external accessories. A dedicated GC HPWR power connector on the motherboard platform enables direct compatibility with ASUS BTF graphics cards without traditional power cables.
