The storyline centers on an abandoned military installation that conducted illegal experiments with the Forced Evolutionary Virus. The protagonist receives an injection of a toxic substance upon arrival and must secure an antidote while racing against a hostile soldier named Pike. Players can trigger the quest line shortly after arriving at Diamond City during a standard playthrough.
Kinggath Creations developed the project by assigning its full time staff to the expansion during downtime between commercial client contracts. Bethesda supported development directly by providing funding and coordinating the return of the original voice cast for both male and female protagonists. The scale of the voice recording and publisher involvement has led the community to treat the story as practical canon.
