Grand Theft Auto VI Requires 212 GB with Console Preload Details Confirmed

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI requires up to 212 GB of free storage on home consoles. Digital buyers can begin early file downloads 9 days ahead of the global launch to prepare for day 1 access. The physical map and poster package will sell for $0.99 on the official merchandise store, while a digital version will be free to download online.

Rockstar Games splits the digital download schedule by platform. PlayStation 5 systems unlock pre downloads at midnight local time in each region. Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S systems begin file installations simultaneously at 12 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time. Retail boxed versions containing download codes become available from store shelves 2 days after digital downloads open. Players securing code in box packages must wait for store delivery before starting the installation.

The 212 GB footprint matches earlier industry leaks and ranks among the largest single installations on current hardware. Standard consoles with 1TB drives will surrender a large portion of usable system memory to this single installation. The demand is heavier on 512 GB hardware variations, where the installation claims over half of the available storage. Rockstar Games notes that final installation sizes vary slightly depending on the specific console model.

Rockstar Games will release a printable cover poster and an official map of Leonida as a free download through its website at launch. A physical two sided edition of the poster and map will sell for $0.99 directly on the Rockstar Store. Customers placing any physical merchandise order through the storefront will receive the printed map package at no extra charge.
