HUAWEI has launched the FreeBuds SE 5 Max wireless earbuds, offering an extended 80 hour total battery life. The hardware includes active noise cancellation reducing sound by up to 52 dB and high resolution LDAC audio support. The earbuds are currently on sale in Germany for €79, with international rollout details still to come.
A 920 mAh charging case provides the main power reserve for the system. Each earbud carries a 41 mAh battery that runs for 10 hours with active noise cancellation turned off, or 7 hours with cancellation active. A quick 10 minute charge inside the case adds up to 4 hours of listening time.
Sound reproduction relies on 10 mm dynamic drivers certified for Hi Res Audio Wireless. The earbuds support the LDAC codec at speeds up to 990 kbps, streaming higher bitrate audio from compatible source hardware. Listeners can tune sound output using 4 factory equalizer profiles or adjust frequencies manually through the HUAWEI Audio Connect application.
The active noise cancellation system cuts ambient sound by up to 52 dB across 4 operational profiles. Users can choose Ultra for loud environments, General for everyday spaces, Cosy for quiet rooms, or an adaptive setting that adjusts automatically based on background volume. Call clarity depends on 6 microphones that filter out external interference during conversations.
Bluetooth 6.0 handles the wireless link, enabling multipoint pairing across 2 devices at once. Touch sensitive panels on each stem manage playback and sound modes. Both earbuds feature IP55 dust and water resistance, weighing 4.3 grams per bud, while the charging case weighs 40.5 grams.
