Nintendo shipped 2.67 million Switch 2 consoles during its second financial quarter, marking a 41% decline compared to 4.54 million units shipped in the same window last year. Despite earlier retail price increases in Japan, North America, and Europe, company president Shuntaro Furukawa stated there are no plans to raise hardware prices again. Global sales of the platform have reached 26.35 million units, maintaining a faster sales pace than the original Switch during the same post launch timeframe.
Furukawa addressed production concerns directly in comments reported by IGN following the release of the corporate financial report. Component shortages pushed memory costs higher earlier this year, prompting Nintendo to adjust hardware prices across primary international regions. Furukawa confirmed the company holds enough memory inventory to hit its annual target of 16.5 million units shipped by the close of the financial year, removing the immediate need for retail price corrections.
Cumulative sales now sit at 26.35 million systems globally. Launch aligned tracking shows the Switch 2 continuing to outpace the early sales curve set by its predecessor. Nintendo plans to back this install base with major software releases over the coming year, including the next mainline Mario entry. Confirmed releases also include Pokemon Wind and Pokemon Wave, which are scheduled to arrive on the system next year.
