Nintendo shipped 2.67 million Switch 2 consoles in its second fiscal quarter, marking a 41% drop from 4.54 million units in the prior year period. Software demand offset the hardware decline, with Switch 2 game sales climbing 26% to 15.03 million copies. Digital storefront purchases generated 116.9 billion yen, accounting for 59.8% of total software revenue.

Nintendo delivered 2.67 million Switch 2 units across the second fiscal quarter covering July through September. That figure represents a 41% reduction compared to the 4.54 million units recorded in the same period last year. Shipments for the original Switch fell 33% to 610000 units. Nintendo confirmed the totals in its official earnings report, pointing to normal post launch stabilization across both gaming systems.

Software volume expanded across both generations. Switch 2 software grew 26% year on year to 15.03 million units. Splatoon Raiders led the platform with 2.42 million sales, followed by Fire Emblem Thousand Strands at 1.34 million sales. The original Switch ecosystem sold 31.92 million games during the quarter, with Rhythm Heaven Miracle Star adding 2.89 million units to the total.

Digital game sales grew 37% over the prior year, generating 116.9 billion yen. Digital downloads now account for 59.8% of total gaming software revenue for Nintendo. This ongoing transition toward digital distribution continues to protect publisher margins as hardware production numbers slow down.
