Sonnet has released the Twin25G T5, an external network adapter offering dual 25GbE optical connectivity through Thunderbolt 5. The desktop unit features 2 SFP28 optical transceivers, backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4, and cross platform support for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The adapter is currently available in global markets priced at $999.99.
Sonnet builds the Twin25G T5 inside an all black desktop chassis. The rear panel provides 2 optical 25GbE ports and includes 2 SFP28 optical modules in the box. Dual Thunderbolt 5 ports handle host connectivity and peripheral expansion. These ports maintain backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 computers, allowing users to attach external USB peripherals or a single 6K display through daisy chaining.
The network controller includes dedicated internal processing silicon and onboard memory. This configuration processes TX and RX data transmission directly on the adapter, keeping computer CPU overhead at minimal levels during heavy file transfers. Sonnet bundles a Thunderbolt 5 cable equipped with a ThunderLok connector clip. The mechanical clip secures the cable directly to the metal chassis to stop accidental disconnects during active operations.
