Team Group Warns Memory Shortage Will Peak in 2027 as Factory Capacity Sells Out

Team Group has warned that the global memory crunch will reach its most acute phase between Q4 and mid 2027 as production capacity sells out worldwide. Major producers including Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron have already committed their entire 2027 DRAM allocations to enterprise contracts. The company reported record third quarter earnings with gross margins reaching 49.27%, but warned consumers that hardware availability will continue shrinking into 2028.

SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron have booked out their manufacturing lines through 2027 for enterprise artificial intelligence customers. Third party module suppliers find it nearly impossible to secure raw chips through normal supply channels. CEO Chen Ching wen confirmed that purchasing power no longer guarantees inventory access during investor briefings.

Even money cannot buy goods.

Spot market memory commands a 30% to 50% premium above standard contract pricing. This gap forces distributors to pay steep surcharges for emergency inventory. The manufacturer generated NT$10.139 billion in quarterly revenue, with net profit after tax reaching NT$3.618 billion. These margins stem from selling older, lower cost inventory into a market starved for silicon.

Enterprise orders generate 64.6% of sales for Team Group, up from 24.6% a year ago. Direct consumer sales plunged to 35.4% over the same interval. DRAM products account for 83.63% of total revenue, with DDR5 representing 87.93% of those shipments. High tier data centers continue absorbing almost all available production, leaving standard consumer channels depleted.

Component pricing has surged more than 4.5 fold over the past 12 months, with 16Gb DDR5 chips jumping from $8.70 to $48.00. Competitors like CXMT and YMTC have expanded their combined share to nearly 10%, yet this output remains inadequate to offset enterprise consumption. CEO Chen Ching wen dismissed any expectations of near term relief.

How can prices fall when there is nothing left?

Market analysts and company executives project that supply parity will not return until late 2028 or 2029. Fabricators continue phasing out older DDR4 output to build high bandwidth memory for enterprise servers, ensuring that consumer retail shortages will persist for the foreseeable future.
