Tech blogger Zack Nelson, known for his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, has released a new video in which he puts the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 through his signature extreme durability test. As per tradition, the smartphone is subjected to fire, bending, and sharp objects before Nelson delivers his verdict.

Screen Scratch Resistance

Nelson begins by testing the scratch resistance of both screens. The inner foldable display shows noticeable scratches even after being subjected to a level 2 pick, and its top layer is easily damaged with a fingernail. When exposed to a lighter's flame, the protective film burns through after 25 seconds.

The outer display proves to be much more durable. Using the same method, Nelson tests its scratch resistance. The first scratches appear at a level 6 hardness and become deeper at level 7, which is typical for most modern smartphones. The device's frame, including the side edges and hinge cover, scratches relatively easily.

Dust Resistance

To test the device's dust resistance, Nelson pours sand onto the inner display and into the hinge folds. While the display remains unharmed, a crunching sound is audible from the hinge mechanism when the phone is folded and unfolded. Nelson notes that, in his opinion, the previous model had better dust protection.

Bend Test and Final Verdict

The Galaxy Z Fold6 passes the bend test with flying colors. When folded, the smartphone remains completely intact. While unfolded, it flexes slightly when bent backward, but no damage appears on the screen or frame.

The test concludes with a complete teardown of the smartphone, during which Nelson is not particularly careful, clearly having no intention of returning the device to working order. Summarizing the video, Nelson praises the Fold6's durability but advises keeping it away from sand and dirt.
