In a unique tribute to Half-Life 2's 20th anniversary, speedrunner Jeepy has combined the iconic shooter with another classic, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, to achieve a record-breaking speedrun.
6aIqNBCCV4UJeepy used a mod to implement Half-Life 2's Source engine physics into NFS: Most Wanted, allowing Gordon Freeman himself—complete with crowbar and rearview mirror attached to his forehead—to become the vehicle. Exploiting the Source physics, Freeman flew across the map at incredible speeds, completing the first race in just 20 seconds.
The complete run was a staggering 90 minutes faster than the previous world record, clocking in at 4 hours and 50 minutes.
This impressive feat coincides with Valve's celebration of Half-Life 2's 20th anniversary, which included giving away free copies of the game, releasing patches for modern systems, and producing a documentary about the game's development.
