Adam Williams, former lead writer of Star Wars Eclipse, has founded Republic Games and announced a dark, mature fantasy RPG backed by KRAFTON.

Adam Williams, the former lead writer of Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse, has founded a new game development studio, Republic Games, with funding from KRAFTON (the creators of PUBG and The Callisto Protocol). Their first project is a dark, mature fantasy RPG described as a blend of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and Orwell's 1984.

The game's setting features a tyrannical regime suppressing dissent, with a rebel faction fighting for freedom and truth. Williams described the premise:

A tyrannical regime is brutally enforcing its ideology and crushing all dissent. But a faction of rebels seeks to overturn the tyrants and expose the lies at the heart of their doctrine.

Williams emphasized Republic Games' commitment to creating meaningful experiences:

We founded Republic Games to make entertaining and meaningful experiences...We believe there’s a broad base of RPG gamers who feel they aren’t being catered to anymore. They want a classic, traditional, timeless fantasy...That’s the audience we’re making this for.

Bryan and Amelia Dechart, who played Connor and Traci in Quantic Dream's Detroit: Become Human, which Williams also wrote, are confirmed to be involved in the new RPG.

As for Star Wars Eclipse, its development is reportedly "simmering" with a potential release in 2026 or 2027.
