Introducing the 5K2K Wonder: UltraGear OLED 45GX950A
The UltraGear OLED 45GX950A is designed for visual appeal. It incorporates LG Display's latest 5K2K WOLED panel. This translates to a 5120 x 2160 pixel resolution on a 44.5-inch display. This is a significant increase in clarity over standard 1440p ultrawide monitors, offering enhanced detail and immersion. The monitor also features an 800R curve, designed to wrap around the user's field of vision.
A key innovation is LG's Dual Mode feature. In its default setting, the monitor delivers a 165Hz refresh rate at its native 5K2K resolution. For competitive gaming scenarios prioritizing frame rates, users can switch to a 1080p mode. This adjustment allows for refresh rates up to 330Hz, providing versatility for different gaming preferences.
In Japan, the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A is priced around ¥417,468 (approximately $2,799 USD). A launch discount reduces the price to about ¥329,800 (roughly $2,211 USD). While expensive, the monitor's cutting-edge display technology may justify the cost for some consumers.
More OLED Options: UltraGear 34GX90SA, 39GX90SA & 45GX90SA
LG has expanded the UltraGear OLED series with three additional models, each offering distinct features:
- UltraGear OLED 34GX90SA: This 34-inch ultrawide model appears to use the panel from the previous 34GS95QE. Upgrades include DisplayPort 1.4, USB-C (65W), and LG's webOS for integrated smart streaming. The Japanese price is approximately ¥199,800 ($1,340), with a potential future price of ¥249,750.
- UltraGear OLED 39GX90SA: The 39-inch model features a 240Hz refresh rate at 1440p resolution and an 800R curve. It also incorporates webOS, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C (65W). The launch price is around ¥249,800 (approximately $1,675 USD), potentially increasing to ¥328,684.
- UltraGear OLED 45GX90SA: Similar in name to the 5K2K model, this 45-inch panel is related to last year's 45GS95QE. It maintains a 1440p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate with an 800R curve. It adds webOS and an extra HDMI 2.1 port. The launch price in Japan is approximately ¥289,801 (around $1,943 USD).

Currently, these monitors are available only in Japan. Given LG's global presence, a wider release of the UltraGear OLED lineup is expected. Monitor enthusiasts, especially those interested in the 5K2K 45GX950A, should monitor for announcements regarding availability in their regions.
