Ugreen's new competitor in China might just be the answer. Ice Speed X524-this little GaN charger really packs a punch considering its small size.
What's the name of the secret behind such compact construction? According to Ugreen, they have their in-house "Airpyra" stacking technology. Apparently, this innovation allows them to shrink the charger to a small size compared to others competing with the same 45W fast charge.
About fast, this 45W charger is zippy. According to Ugreen, it can charge an iPhone 16 from flat to 60% in only 30 minutes. Pretty helpful for those on the run! Plus, it supports charging standards across the board; that is, it can power up just about anything safely-even your low-powered earbuds or smartwatch.
The Ugreen Ice Speed X524 certainly will not compromise on connectivity. A cool three-port arrangement is presented, which would be:
- Two USB Type-C ports
- One USB Type-A port
While any of the first two USB-C ports can deliver the entire 45W when used alone, the USB-A port can go up to 22.5W.
And what if you connect many devices? The charger sorts power out among them. When all the ports are used, the dominant USB-C1 port will output 30W and share the remaining power equally with the other two ports-at 6W each. This way, your main device still gets decent charging speed.
Safety has been uppermost in Ugreen's minds too. The charger integrates the self-developed "ThermalGuard" chip. By means of keeping the temperature in check during the charger when it is under full load, the chip would ensure a safe operation. The other bragging point is that the internal GaN chip is efficient with less than 7% power wastage, power conversion even claimed at a scale of 93%.
Aside from the technology, it has a beautiful look and is equipped with multiple protective circuits, always reassuring.
In China, this little beast will be launched at an attractive price of CNY 79.90, or $11 in USD. This makes it almost a steal for a GaN charger like that!
There hasn't been any official word yet as to when (or if) the Ice Speed X524 will go global. Ugreen has a decent track record of expanding its popular products to a broader market, so we can only hope for a quick international release.
