AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX CPUs Show Up on Website
AMD's new Zen 5-based workstation CPUs, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX line, are now up on the B&H Photo Video retail site. This news means that the big reveal is close, fitting with what the firm said back in July.
Pre-Order and When to Get It Info
The store’s list shows that pre-orders for these new CPUs start on July 23rd at 9:00 a.m. ET. While the price is not up on the site yet, this date tells us that the chips should head to buyers not long after.
Listed Threadripper PRO 9000WX Kinds
Four out of six types in this new group are on the B&H Photo Video site. You can pre-order these models:
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX: 96 Cores / 192 Threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9985WX: 64 Cores / 128 Threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9975WX: 32 Cores / 64 Threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX: 24 Cores / 48 Threads
The 16-core 9955WX and 12-core 9945WX types are not up yet.
Big Speed Claims and Chip Details
AMD says the Threadripper PRO 9000WX line is way better and faster. They claim these new CPUs are about 16% faster at usual workstation tasks and up to 25% faster at AI and Machine Learning jobs than old ones. AMD also talks about being up to 108% faster than Intel's Xeon W9-3595X in some jobs.
The top 9995WX has a 2.5GHz base speed (5.4GHz boost), 480MB total cache, and a 350W TDP, making it good for tough AI and many-thread tasks.
Guesses on Prices
AMD has not told us official prices yet. But, looking around on the store's site hints at these prices:
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX: ~$13,000
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9985WX: ~$8,500
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9975WX: ~$4,400
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX: ~$3,100
If these prices are right, they mark a big jump over the last set, with the top 9995WX maybe costing 30% more than the 7995WX. We should think of these prices as guesses until AMD or the pre-order day says more.
