First News on Amazon's God of War TV Show from Boss Ronald D. Moore

After some quiet time, we now know more about Amazon's God of War TV show. At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, boss Ronald D. Moore shared the first news about his plans for the show, saying it's been fully remade.

A Brand-New Plan

This show, first set up in 2022, has started fresh. The first team, with Rafe Judkins, Mark Fergus, and Hawk Ostby, has left. Now, Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica and For All Mankind) is in charge as the boss, writer, and maker.

Moore's Idea A Deep Tale

Talking to IGN, Moore said he loved the game's story bits and the bond between Kratos and his son, Atreus. He's not much of a gamer, but he felt a strong pull to the characters.

"I kept thinking of this dad and son tale. It was moving and new," said Moore. "It really caught me."

He tried playing the games but couldn’t get the hang of it, so he's all about the story and the people in it.

Keeping the Game's Feel

Moore told fans the show will stay true to the game's spirit. He spoke of the mix of deep feelings and grand size.

"The show's feel will mirror the game," Moore stated. He talked about the "truehearted tale" of their trip to honor Atreus's mom, and the "secret of [Kratos's] past," along with the deep feelings he deals with. Yet, he also said the show will be fun and full of grand things.

Looking Forward Picking Actors and Launch Time

It's still early days, and no exact launch time has been set. The next big step is finding actors for Kratos, Atreus, Freya, and more.
